Our schools are minimising the number of visitors they receive, as well as the amount of time visitors spend on the school premises, during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. This will help to minimise group mixing and make it easier to maintain social distancing in school.
We expect all visitors to: 1. only visit the school premises if absolutely necessary. Please phone instead, request a call or request an online meeting if possible. 2. not enter the premises if you or any members of your household have symptoms of coronavirus. 3. clean your hands with alcohol gel (provided) when you enter and leave the building. 4. follow the same procedures as those in place for staff, ie social distancing (2m), avoid touching surfaces and do not enter areas of the school without the permission of staff.
Thank you for your support in keeping our pupils, staff and families safe.
Welcome to Fox Class
Dear Fox parents and carers
Many of you have been adding photos and comments on to our Twitter page @WideyFox which is a great way to let the children keep in touch. If you don't want to add a photo or comment for everyone to see then you can send a 'direct message' which I will check regularly. Make sure you set your notifications 'on' for Twitter so that you can keep in touch.
It has been heart-warming to see such lovely comments about the activities you are doing at home - from gardening and baking to practising spellings and creating cards. All of these activities enrich our lives at a time when we need it the most. Looking after our mental well-being through sharing simple things together is going to be a strength for us all. Being a teacher without a class of eager faces around me is not something I know!
The children were a credit to you all, especially in the last week when we discussed how things were changing. One exceptionally mature response was 'We're all going to learn how to be a lot more responsible Mrs Thomas aren't we!' Indeed! Hopefully the children will also realise that the small things in their lives are the most important. Take time to snuggle up together and read a story, listen to music and dance until you laugh, take a walk and notice the details like the colours of the new spring flowers. Let these things inspire you and the children - use them to follow their ideas as to what they want to find out about. Yes they also need to do their times tables, spellings and comprehensions but let's not forget that we are finding our way too as parents.
Please let other parents know about the updates on the Widey web page here on Fox class and on Twitter. It's vital that we stay together as a community - just because we might not physically be in the same building does not mean to say we can't communicate.
In the meantime take care, listen to the advice and stay safe.
Mrs L. Thomas
